Confessions of a Barbie addict

Everybody loves Barbie…including moi! I started my collection at age eight and passed them on to my cousins coz in the ’80’s they cost quite a bit of money and they kept badgering me to let them play with them anyway. I’m more than happy of course since anyone who shares my passion for the iconic doll is more than welcome.
You can just imagine my joy when, at age three, my daughter wanted her first Barbie. My only regret was my collection has since dwindled to a few and I had forgotten to keep the collectibles in their original boxes. I never thought some of the dolls I had back then could cost as much on eBay. Tsk tsk…
Well, my daughter has since started her own collection and up to now, at age nine, she still plays with them. We have DVD movies of every Barbie movie there ever was and when we have free time, we still watch ‘em. We have can sing the movie theme song of “The Princess and the Pauper” duet by heart and her closet is full of Barbie stuff — clothes, bags, shoes, accessories. You can say we live and breath Barbie.
Barbie really does bring out the child in you and being a mom has never diminished my love for her. The latest in Barbie’s 2010 collection is the Barbie and the Rockers Reunion Tour, a real cool doll to own.
I’ve always loved Greek mythology and a recent surprise is Mattel coming out with the Athena Barbie. This one can really make for great educational and enriching conversation with your little one.
Fashionistas, on one hand, will be tickled pink with the Anemone Barbie by designer Christian Louboutin and since the holidays are fast approaching, the perfect gift this season would be the 2010 Holiday Barbie Doll.
There’s a Barbie for everyone so why not grab one now?
